They crossed deserts, mountains and seas. They left their children behind.
They are young women from former USSR who went overseas in order to make a living. It’s never easy for me as a woman to watch a film dealing with prostitution. What’s extra sad wbout the women in this film is that as Russian immigrants they are automatically judged as being whores in Israel, showing one the coutry’s uglier sides.
Once again Nili Tal proves to be a brilliant documentarist. Tal befiends her subjects in a real and feels for them. Hopefully this movie will be able to make a chang in some of these women’s fate and others that might have followed.
A shocking and sad documentary dealing with the oldest profession in the world. It’s quite sad to see women treated as objects in this film but there’s no doubt that this is an important story to be told.
