Murder for Life is a dramatized documentary (ReDrama), tracing the events surrounding the most perturbing murder case in Israel’s history, in which Amos Baranes was convicted for the murder of servicewoman Rachel Heller. After the Courts’ rejection of three previous retrial requests over 28 years of legal battles, Baranes finally became the first man in global legal history to win an acquittal. A sensational retrial revealed a conspiracy to point the finger at someone as the murderer at any price; over-zealous efforts made by the Police, dubious evidence, and the prosecution that lead to use of illegitimate means to extract a false confession.
This film has a unique style. By means of drama, the real heroes of this saga re-enact their own personal stories. Amos Baranes; the defense lawyers; Police Commanders and others, reconstruct the events of this case with the support of a screenplay, directing, cinematography and editing that make this film a dramatic narrative in every sense.
Including a special introduction by Law Professor Barry Scheck, Co-Founder, the Innocence Project.
